Shelter Director Alicia Weaver
Alicia has several years of experience in nonprofit services with a focus on permanent supportive housing and family programs before she joined our team as the director of New Hope Family Shelter.
“My work has centered on supporting families through housing instability, leading multidisciplinary teams, strengthening program operations, and ensuring services are both trauma-informed and outcome-driven.”
Alicia returned to Indiana at the beginning of 2026 after spending six years working with families impacted by homelessness in Washington, D.C. Prior to that, she worked with Child Protective Services in Knoxville, Tennessee.
“I've had the opportunity to live and work in several different places, and each place has given me a completely different perspective on the communities and people I get to serve.”
Alicia has a bachelor's degree in human services from Johnson University (BS, 2016) and a master’s degree in industrial/organizational psychology from Walden University (MS, 2025).

What attracted Alicia to New Hope for Families is how the mission resonates with her passion for direct service and helping families.
“I was drawn to New Hope because of its commitment to meeting families where they are and helping them regain stability, dignity, and hope. I also felt strongly connected to New Hope’s holistic approach in supporting the whole family.”
For Alicia, the most rewarding part of her work is to walk alongside families through pivotal moments in their lives and see their progress — whether that’s celebrating milestones big or small, watching their confidence grow, or when they ultimately secure housing. She also finds a lot of personal fulfillment in mentoring staff and building strong collaborative teams.
What I hope to achieve at New Hope
Alicia hopes to build upon the success that New Hope for Families already achieves. She plans to strengthen our programs that empower families to move toward long-term stability. At the same time, she also intends to support our staff with the tools, structure, and encouragement they need to thrive.
“My goal is to help create an environment where families feel genuinely supported and team members feel valued, heard, and equipped to do meaningful work.”
